In exchange for heavy lifting, members of the Jefferson City Jays football team are welcome to attend today’s annual Pancake and Sausage dinner at Selinger Centre and eat all they care to eat. From left, Joe Burkett grabs a 27-pound box of sausage from the car and hands it to Jermiez Booker, who then hands it to Ra’Jae Scott, then to Darryl Williams, who hands it to Austin Chiagrom and on to others as it is stacked inside a large, portable cooler. By the time they were done, they moved 600 pounds of sausage to the cooler. The dinner is hosted by the Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club, and this marks their 50th annual pancake day. Volunteers will be cooking pancakes and sausage and serving from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Funds raised go toward Camp Timber Acres, a camp in Cole County that is used by Boy Scouts and the YMCA for summer day camps. In addition, donations are made to Vogelweid Learning Center and diabetes research. Julie Smith/News Tribune
